Runway Inspired Challenge - Gucci!

Snow Day! First storm to hit Montreal this winter and thankfully we are on vacation! Dogs are happy we played outside and will go back this afternoon. I am just happy that I can run to my office/studio to play! I haven't submitted to the Runway Inspired Challenge in a while thought this was the perfect day! Gucci is the inspiration for the challenge and my starting point was the text on the outfit, I embossed the background panel with a Cuttlebug folder.  I figured a New Years card would be fun to give my aesthetician that I see tomorrow as opposed to a too late Christmas card! Lol. By looking at the outfit, the silver shoes just spoke to me so I die cut the champagne flutes and one of the snowflakes out of silver glitter paper I then knew I had to add red and green elements for the dress and hat!

Lawn Fawn Stitched Snowflake and Cheers dies
Champagne flutes by Papertrey Ink
Avery Elle Holly die
PPP sequins
Green and White Lawn Trimmings Twine.

Thanks so much for taking the time and Happy New Year!

Lawnscaping Blog Hop - Evergreen

Good morning! This is Kim from the Lawnscaping FIT team and welcome to the December Blog Hop - we are loving Evergreen this month which is my favourite color! This is a bittersweet post as it is my last for Lawnscaping, but what a wonderful six months this has been! Big thanks to Laurel Beard and Chrissie Tobas and to the rest of the team!

The wonderful sponsor for this hop is The Ink Road you could win a $25.00 gift certificate to this store!  All you need to do is leave a comment with a trackable e-mail on each stop on this hop!

You will have arrived from the talented Kate's blog.

My project is made from the Lawn Fawn Pillow Box die with Neena Solar white. I made my own green plaid (check out the Laura Bassen tutorial on You Tube) using a mix of green inks and some gold. You can't see that much of it with the angle of the picture but it turned out so pretty! I die cut the Lawn Fawn Stitched snowflakes, the middle Stitched Circle Tag die (both out of Neena) and the Joy out of green shimmery cardstock. Put my gift card in (for my hubby ;)) and wrapped the bow, I used glue dots for the snowflakes and added my tag with Lawn Trimmings I topped it off with a few jingle bells.

Hop order, if you find any broken links along the way just go back to the Lawnscaping blog!

Kim *** you are here :) ***

You next stop on the hop is Suzanne's blog.

Have a very Merry Christmas and my best wishes for 2016!

Simon Says Stamp

Happy Sunday, I can't believe how lucky we have been with weather lately! Record breaking warm temperatures for December in Montreal! I am going to take it while we have it!

Over the American Thanksgiving weekend Simon Says Stamp held some wonderful sales and I went postal on the 30% day for the Simon Says Stamp brand! I have been playing with my new products for a couple of days here are a few cards that I have put together for family and friends.

I used the SSS Poinsettia die and Falling Snow 6 x 6 background stamp on this one. I die cut the poinsettia out of Schoolhouse Red cardstock and used a bit of Fired Brick distress ink on the petals. White embossed the snow and used the Christmas from the Happy Winter set.

I love this Soft Snowfall die! I used Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough and Lucky Clover Distress inks with a mist of Perfect Pearls (I love this mix for the holidays), I die cut another white piece and inlayed them together used the same Christmas die from Happy Winter and some sequins!

This one is for my favourite aunt who is now placed as she is battling a form of Alzheimers. She loves red and I am hoping that it may brighten her room over the holidays. This is the SSS Christmas Tree die, I love that outside stitching! I thought this die would make a perfect shaker card so I made two with it. I embossed the background on the red one and I think I prefer it to the plain below.

Thanks so much for taking the time!

Avery Elle Metallics!

I made this card for a little girl which some of you may have heard of on the news. She lives in New York State and lost her family in a fire. She asked that her Christmas tree be filled with cards, my heart is broken for her but her spirit amazes me! If any of you would like to send her a handmade card or any card here is the information for her:

Safyre
P.O. Box 6126
Schenectady, NY 12306

I am in love with these polar bears from Avery Elle and it is all about metallics this month over at the AEIheartU Challenge.

I used a mix of pink, purple and blue distress inks for my background with a spray of perfect pearls. The mountains are from the Snow Cap Elle-ments and I used these fantastic polar bears from Polar Pals (also with matching dies) and the frame is from the Wonky Stitches Elle-ments set. I used acetate that is heat friendly and embossed the sentiment from the Snow Much Fun stamp set also by Avery Elle. A mix of silver and purple sequins then I topped it off with a purple twine bow.

Thanks for taking the time and please consider sending this wonderful child some holiday love with a card!

Lawnscaping Tags!

Happy Tuesday Lawnscapers! Kim with you this morning and this is my last post as a FIT Team member, I can't believe how fast these six months have gone by! I have had such fun participating with a wonderful group of ladies! A big thanks goes to Laurel and Chrissie, I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute!  For my post, I thought that another tag project would be appropriate to go along with the current challenge and I, probably, like most of you am producing tags like crazy for Christmas.

I am currently obsessed with the Stitched Circle Tag Die, it is just perfect in my opinion! I finally broke down and purchased the Snowy Backdrop die and I used that with a mix of green distress inks and sprayed it with Perfect Pearls, I love the way it turned out! I cut six white pieces from Neena Solar White for the background and the back pieces for my message. I then cut two more for the snow from the same tag and used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Snow Borders.  I then used the Alpaca from Winter Alpaca, the bunnies from Snow Day and that bunny on a sled is Winter Bunny. Coloured them with Copics and used my White Jellyroller for added detail. Finished them of with Lawn Trimmings!

The lucky winner of this challenge will receive a $25.00 gift card from the fabulous Ellen Hutson on-line store!

Lawnscaping Challenge - Tag it!

Happy Monday! I am starting to get very excited for the Christmas break! My day job has been unbelievably busy these last few months, it is actually the reason I began this wonderful hobby... To de-stress! The new Lawnscaping challenge is fitting as I am knee deep in making my own holiday tags! I had such fun making these, the new Lawn Fawn Stitched Circle Tag Die is simply perfect for mass production! Add a few critters and bam you have a winner!

I used a few sets of Lawn Fawn stamps for these four tags, Toboggan Together, Winter Alpaca and the Owl is from Critters in the Arctic. I started out thinking I would make shaker tags out of these and die cut my circles out of metallic papers (that I love for the holidays). I also used another Lawn Fawn Stitched Circle to cut out the middle of the tag. As I started putting the tags together, I really felt they did not need to be shaker tags. I cut some vellum with the same smaller Lawn Fawn circle die embossed some snow with an embossing folder. The background is Neena Solar white, I then stamped multiple trees from the Toboggan together set and placed them both in front and behind the vellum. Coloured my Critters with Copics and put them all together including a white backing piece to write my message. To finish them off, I used a variety of Lawn Trimmings twine to tie to packages!

The lucky winner of this challenge will receive a $25.00 gift card from the fabulous Ellen Hutson on-line store!

Lawnscaping November Blog Hop - Violet!

I hope those of you who celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday had a wonderful holiday! This is Kim from the Lawnscaping FIT team and welcome to the November  Blog Hop - we are loving Violet this month! The wonderful sponsor for this hop is The Ink Road you could win a $25.00 gift certificate to this store!  All you need to do is leave a comment with a trackable e-mail on each stop on this hop!

You will have arrived here from the talented Kate's blog

For my project I started with a Neena Solar white backing piece with three distress inks (Victorian Velvet, Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves) to blend the violet background. I then stamped a starry background stamp in Memories Unicorn White (you can see the stars through the die cuts). With my second Neena panel I took a bunch of stars and snowflake dies from multiple Lawn Fawn sets and die cut the base of a tree and used some gems, I added foam tape and a mix of sequins then glued the two pieces together.  I coloured my Rudolph, Sleigh and Gifts from Toboggan Together with Copics and some gel pens. I then embossed my sentiment and used some Washi tape to back it.

Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge

I have finally finished 70 holiday cards that I was asked to make! So, now, I can finally just enjoy and create slowly. I made this one for the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr Colour Challenge. It worked out perfectly because this one will go to my youngest niece - I have always wanted a pet pig (no joke) and my nieces and nephews all know this, so it's a fun one.

I must order the new Dexter and Simon holiday set but for this one I used the original Dexter and Simon from Simon says stamp and simply added a Santa's hat! Masked off Dexter and stamped some presents and I stencilled a snowy background. I also used the SSS Falling Snow stencil with some shiny embossing paste for the frame. The card base is also SSS Smoke cardstock and finished it off with a mix of aqua, pink and white PPP sequins!

Thanks for taking the time!

Fawny Holiday Week Day 5

Happy Friday! Participating in Fawny Holiday Week this year has been such fun for me! This is my 3 and last post and the last day for Fawny Holiday Week over at the Lawn Fawn Blog. Go check it out, as always they are offering some wonderful prizes!

This is a remake of a one-layer card I made earlier on this fall for the Lawnscaping Challenge. I have never been a fan of the one-layer even with 110lbs cardstock. I need a hefty card to mail it out, so I re-created my card but with a stitched rectangle die cut. I also used Let it Snow (snowy background), Joy to the Woods (trees) and Toboggan Together for the reindeer! I masked with he snowy borders (mask from dies) and used White Flower Soft for the snow!

Thanks for taking the time! And don't forget to check out the Lawn Fawn Blog all week for more inspiration and some great prizes!

Fawny Holiday Week - Day Three!

This is my second project for the Fawny Inspiration Week! I am very excited to be participating for more fantastic inspiration that will go all week please go to the Lawn Fawn Blog!

This is my project for today!

This Lawn Fawn Penguin is from last years release, I adore this guy I thought using him in the Ready, Set, Snow Shaker add-on would be such fun and turn it into a gift tag.  I stamped the snow from the Let it Snow set on vellum and white embossed it.  I also coloured the ice and hat from the Critters in the Arctic set, I cut two full white snow globe pieces for the back of the snow globe and the add-on to write my message. The front snow globe piece is slightly shaded with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and the Merry Christmas from the Ready, Set, Snow set is embossed on wood veneer. Put everything together with Flower Soft White for the snow and some flat sequins!

Thanks for taking the time! And don't forget to check out the Lawn Fawn Blog all week for more inspiration and some great prizes!

Fawny Holiday Week!

I am so excited to be able to participate in the Fawny Holiday Week! Lawn Fawn is one of my favourite companies and for fun and whimsical holiday cards you can't ask for more! For more inspiration that will go all week please go to the Lawn Fawn Blog!

This is the first of three projects submitted, I will feature the other two later this week!

I started by stamping the Winter in the Park snow, bench and light post I then masked them off and used a mix of distress inks to blend my background. Once I cut the cover frame, I felt the scene needed a little something, something so what better then a set of the Lawn Fawn birds from Chit Chat paired with the Santa's hat from the Holiday Party Animal stamp set.

I created the snow in the background with my Sakura white Gellyroller added a red sparkle embossed bow to the light post and my snow pen for the bench. I filled my shaker with White Flower soft and some flat sequins.  Put everything together with fun foam and finished it off with the red Lawn Trimmings!

AEIheartU Challenge #30 - Holiday Tag

I love making holiday tags, I try and make 3-5 of the same design.  For the AEIheartU Challenge, my first thought was the Avery Elle Snow Lift die from the Snow Cap Elements die set! These tags will be fantastic for my nieces and nephews!

I partially die-cut two (for each tag) of the snow lift to make the backing tags solid, for the top portion of the tag I used the full die-cut and used the border stamp from Naughty or Nice with my Misti Stamp tool to try and line the "lines" up as well as possible. I used a bit of Tumbled Glass Distress Ink on the window piece just to give a bit of dimension. I the Copic coloured my critters from the Snow Much Fun set and die cut them. The sentiment is also from the Snow Much Fun set. Finished them off with some twine and some fun jingle bells!

Thanks so much for taking the time!

Lawnscapaing #118 - In with the Old!

Happy Monday! It is time for another Lawnscaping Challenge - In with the Old! Time to break out the older less used stamp sets!

I chose Blissful Botanicals while I have used the smaller flowers in the set quite a bit I had never stamped the leaves and butterfly in this wonderful set! I watercolored the leaves and butterfly with my wonderful Zig Clean Color Brush Pens. It also gave me a nice break from holiday cards, they are my favourite to make but a break from the Santa sanity is welcome, lol! I finished it iff with the Lawn Fawn Hugs die and the Argyle background stamp and some PPP sequins.

Making multiples of one design

Happy Sunday! I am working on a series of Holiday cards for a company that uses my cards as their Holiday Greetings to customers! I recently ordered the Misti Stamp Tool by My Sweet Petunia and I don't know what I did before! I like to make a set of five for each design and using this makes my life so much simpler!

For this one I used a series of snowflakes and the greeting from the PS Fresh Snow stamp set that was released a few years ago, I love the design of these snowflakes. I used Ranger glitter embossing powder for the snowflakes and sentiment added a few white dots with my Sakura White Gellyroller. The diagonal lines on the card base were created with an MFT stencil and MFT Wild Cherry Hybrid ink (my favourite red for Christmas). Finished them off with a sparkling of PPP sequins!

Thanks for taking the time!

Penny Black Parisian Engagement

I was asked to make an engagement card for a couple that were engaged last summer in Paris. What better set to use then the Penny Black J'aime Paris set!

I decided to try my hand at a black and white watercolour, this is a first for me and I am happy with the way it turned out. Long live my Zig Clean Color Brush Pens and Strathmore Bristol paper!

The frame was die cut with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle and I finished it off with Pretty Pink Psh sequins.

Lawnscaping Challenge #117 - Thinking of You!

Happy Monday all Lawnscapers! Kim from the FIT team here with my project for the Thinking of You challenge that starts today on the Lawnscaping blog

I love this Lawn Fawn Fox, it's an older stamp but I was so excited when they introduced the accompanying die this fall! I thought this stamp with the coffee cup would be a great thinking of you for a friend that is far away. Mixed it with the thinking of you sentiment from the awesome Lawn Fawn Chit Chat set. This stamp is so stained by ink from usage, one of my all-time favourite sets! Also used the Stitched Rectangles and Circle dies also by Lawn Fawn. With a scattering of PPP sequins!

The lucky winner of this challenge will receive a $25.00 gift card from the fabulous Ellen Hutson on-line store!

Lawnscaping October Blog Hop - Orange!

Who doesn't love Friday's! This is Kim from the Lawnscaping FIT team and welcome to the October  Blog Hop - we are loving Orange this month! The wonderful sponsor for this hop is The Ink Road you could win a $25.00 gift certificate to this store!  All you need to do is leave a comment with a trackable e-mail on each stop on this hop!

You will have arrived here from the talented Kate's blog!

When I think of October and orange obviously Halloween comes to mind. I do not make Halloween cards nor do I regularly use orange much but I do make goodie bags and such for my nieces and nephews and well, orange for Halloween is standard.  Here is another example using a pillow box perhaps for the older kids that don't "do" Halloween any longer for a little trinket or gift card.

Paper is all Neena solar white both the 80lbs and 110lbs. I made my own web stencil from a full A2 size die and used a mix of Distress Inks for both the box and background on the shaker tag.  My stamps are from Monster Mash and Spooktacular by Lawn Fawn and the shaker is also from the new Lawn Fawn shaker add-on to Ready, Set, Snow.  A mix of Pretty Pink Posh sequins and off we go!

Here is the full blog hop list, if you find a broken link along the way just go back to the Lawnscaping Blog for the entire list!

Your next stop on the hop is the wonderful Suzanne!

Kate
*** Kim ***You are here! :)

Happy Halloween to you all! We don't "open-up" for Halloween as I have two big barking dogs lol! I do love it though, so instead Saturday night will be an old horror movie Marathon with my best friend because my husband is scared of old horror movies ha!

Thanks for taking the time!

Holiday craft time with Hero Arts!

I am just loving the 2015 Hero Arts Holiday collection. Hero Arts is the first stamp company I discovered when I began card making.  I love the refreshed Hero Arts look and stamps! I was so very excited to start playing!  This is from a Lia Griffith "tag set" but I really wanted to make a shaker card out of it! I just love the die and with glitter paper you don't need much else! I am submitting this one to the current Hero Arts Holiday Cardmaking Challenge. Please scroll down to see product list.

Products used:
Hero Arts Merry and Bright Tag Set by Lia Griffith;
 Hero Arts Winter Wonders woodblock sentiment;
Embossing folder also by Hero Arts with Sizzix

Lawnscaping Challenge #116 - Halloween!

Good morning and welcome to another Lawnscaping Challenge! Too Cute to Spook is the theme this week and I have always loved Halloween! Although my husband and I do not really open-up for Halloween because I have two big dogs with big barks and they take their guard duties seriously! I find it too bad because as a kid we used to go all out and really enjoyed Halloween.  So what I do is make goodie bags for my nieces and nephews and here are two of many... lol.

Lawn Fawn Good Bag Die, 12x12 Let's Polka in the Dark papers, Booyah Stamps and Dies, Spooktacular Stamps and Dies, Lawn Fawn Stitched Circle dies, an MFT spider web die and Lawn Trimmings Twine and Star dies. I coloured all of my images with my Zig Clean Colour Brush Pens and Bristol paper (by Strathmore)
